UFPR researcher develops a method for monitoring pesticides that can be used in inspection

This year, UFPR was honored to have two distinguished researchers: Professor Rita de Cássia dos Anjos, from the Department of Engineering and Exact Sciences (Setor Palotina) and Professor Elisa Orth, from the Department of Chemistry (Curitiba)! On 11/27 we had the defense of master's degree from the student Patrícia Soares, entitled "REACTION OF METHYLIMIDAZOLES WITH ORGANO(THIO)PHOSPHATES: REACTIVITY, MECHANICAL MODULATION AND CHEMICAL SAFETY". Patrícia was argued by the board: Prof. Caroline D'Oca (UFPR) and Prof. Fernando Molin (UTFPR). The work was supervised by Prof. Elisa and co-supervised by Prof. Renan Campos (UTFPR). Master's Defense: Giseli

On September 28, we had the first defense of GCC by PROFQUI (Professional Master's Program in Chemistry in the National Network). Giseli Cristina Machado received a master's degree for the work "Indicators of socio-scientific activism of high school students from the theme of pesticides for the study of chemical solutions", which she defended brilliantly. The work was supervised by Prof. Elisa Orth and co-supervised by Prof. Camila Silveira da Silva. Still, the board was attended by Prof. Leonir Lorenzetti and Prof.ª Caroline D´Oca.

Initiatives for young researchers

Prof. Elisa is chosen to be part of the advisory board for young researchers (Early Career Advisory Board) of the renowned magazine Chemical Reviews of ACS. The council has 10 members from all over the world, with the aim of bringing the vision of young researchers, to propose initiatives that can promote scientists at the beginning of their careers.

GCC at ACS Applied Nanomaterials with the paper ''Graphene Modified with Triruthenium Acetate Clusters as an Electrode for the Hybrid Energy Storage System '', result of collaboration with Prof. Herbert Winnischofer and Prof. Aldo Zarbin, and participation by Alejandro E. Pérez Mendoza, Naiane Naidek, Elizangela Cavazzini Cesca and Julio César Sagás. GCC collaborated with the synthesis / characterization of functionalized nanomaterials by Naiane Naidek.

Another work published by GCC in collaboration with Prof. Márcio F. Bergamini, Luiz H. Marcolino-Junior and Aldo Zarbin. The work '' A simple enzymeless approach for Paraoxon determination using imidazole-functionalized carbon nanotubes '' used functionalized materials in the GCC to detect the Paraoxon pesticide and was published in the journal Materials Science & Engineering (IF: 4.96).
