In 2022, GCC completes 10 years!. We will have a year full of celebration, starting with the commemorative logo of 10 years, made by the doctoral student Alex Teixeira.

In March 2012, Prof. Elisa joined UFPR as a professor and created the group. The first members of the group were Thomas and José, who joined in March 2012: scientific initiation students at the time.

In 2012, GCC had nothing and depended only on the solidarity of collaborating groups. An important one was the Materials Chemistry Group - GQM, coordinated by Prof. Aldo Zarbin, who allowed most of the experiments to be carried out (use of UV, pH meter, stirrer, characterization techniques, reagents, etc.). His entire group helped to get GCC to start doing research right away! Another important group was the GPMIN, coordinated by Prof. Isabel and Prof. Márcio, who also opened the doors for the GCC in the former LEAP lab. GCC thanks everyone who opened their doors and continue to open their doors! Collaboration is key to high-level research, which is why the GCC values so many of its contributors!

Jéssica Fonsaca was fundamental to the GCC and was part of its history from the beginning: from 2012 to 2020. During this period, she was guided by Prof. Aldo Zarbin and co-supervised by Prof. Elisa. Jessica helped consolidate the area of nanocatalysts at GCC, training new members of the group both in synthetic routes and in characterization techniques.
